Founded in 1989 and officially incorporated in 1990, the Austin Gay Men’s Chorus has grown into one of the most visible LGBTQ+ performing arts organizations in Central Texas. From our beginnings as a small group of singers providing visibility during the HIV/AIDS crisis, AGMC has become a vital part of Austin’s cultural landscape. We perform across the city, collaborate with artists and organizations locally and nationally, and represent Austin within the GALA Choruses network.
Our History:
AGMC is home to more than 150 singing and non-singing members of all backgrounds and identities. Our singers come together not only to create outstanding choral music, but also to build friendships, advocate for equality, and give back to the community. Membership is open to anyone who supports our mission, and we welcome new singers each season.
